Navi Mumbai Environment Preservation Society (NMEPS) has been formed to preserve environment, especially mangroves, wetlands & water bodies in Navi Mumbai. It has organized, over the last few years, many events e.g. No Motor Vehicle Rally on P.B. Road, Nature Trails, Save Mangroves Walk, Essay Competition, annual World Wetland Day events etc. Recently, Bombay High Court has directed CIDCO, NMMC and the Forest Department to protect mangroves at any cost & replant destroyed mangroves. This will ensure that the green cover in Navi Mumbai will not decrease but will gradually increase, thus reducing the impact of global warming.
Navi Mumbai Environment Preservation Society (NMEPS) conducted a painting competition on the topic ‘What I can do to preserve Mangroves and Wetlands in Navi Mumbai?’ for all the schools in Navi Mumbai. Our students participated in the program and three entries were short listed. Our student Mast. Kevin D’souza won the first prize. This has boosted the confidence of our students and motivates them to participate in inter school competitions.
